The concept of ESG involves evaluating a company’s performance based on non-financial criteria in three key areas: environmental impact, social responsibility and corporate governance.

With the introduction of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CRSD) on 1 January 2024, ESG now aims to provide measurable indicators for evaluating what was previously considered unquantifiable: a company’s wide-ranging impact on the environment, society and the economy. Companies will need to report their performance in these areas through non-financial reports, which an increasing number of Polish and European businesses will be required to prepare and disclose in the coming years.

Non-financial reports will include a range of information about a company’s environmental efforts (such as its carbon footprint), labor practices, respect for human rights and measures to combat corruption.

Ultimately, the information in non-financial reports is expected to be as crucial in evaluating a company’s overall condition and performance as its financial results.
